In Matthew, chapter 5, there is recorded the beginning of the "Sermon on the Mount". I have discussed many principles from this sermon before, but there is one statement that the Lord has pierced my heart with today, it is verse 47 of chapter 5, "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?" Jesus was expanding the arms of the Lord's mercy to All, even those unrighteous sinners, thank the Lord for that or I wouldn't be here writing today. He was teaching a radical departure from the religious crowd of the day, one that called for involvement with the dirty, poor and unlovable people. Those obnoxious and definitely non-religious.
It is within this attitude that we find the peace and love of our Savior. The attitude that tells me, I am not above my fellows and I want to share the life that I have found with others and I want to be a true servant that does more than the others. God Bless You today as you consider this thought.
