(shown-Mayflower Compact)
It occurred to me, during the course of my reading in Deuteronomy Chapter 4, that there are many parallels between the formation of the Nation of Israel and the formation of the United States, now the physical reality of Israel is accomplished again, and from what I hear, an outpouring of the revelation of the Messiah is making it's way through the Jewish people. A very interesting overlap of the Spirit of Yahweh God, as one Nation decreases another increases, I'm speaking in terms of the Spirit, of course. There does seem to be a correlation to the Blessings and Cursings, also. As we have turned nearly everyone to His own ways of worship, we have lost the ability to discern the true movement of the Spirit. All things must be done with an eye and an ear to the Spirit of God. Seeking His principles and direction through His true word of prophecy, the Holy Bible. There may be a revelation or confirmation through a prophetic utterance, but it must bear witness with the scriptures and furthermore with other wise servants of God, not that all will agree, but there must be a confirmation. Whenever God breathes a word, it is set in fact, no conjecture or guessing. He will be true to His word, the reformation of the Nation of Israel is physical proof of that.
In chapter four of Deuteronomy, verse 2, we see the warning to Israel,"You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." It can be said of old Israel and the current United Stated, that we have surely added our own conjectures and taken away the depth and understanding of much. As part of my job, I deal with interpretations of legal documents, and I know how easy it is to interpret amiss, not understanding the referenced portions of other laws, it all must fit together to understand rightly.
In verses 5-9 we read the following:
5 “Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. 6 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
7 “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? 8 And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? 9 Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,".
Have we not forgotten the purpose of this great Nation? Have we not forgotten our purpose as disciples of Christ? We are not to merely argue the scriptures as a philosophical Greek, living according to our own desires, nor are we to legalistically bind ourselves to dead doctrines and legalism, but we must,"Be about our Father's business", living what we know, and knowing what it is we live. We must not only study the scriptures to show ourselves approved, as the Bereans of old, but we must walk out or salvation in fear and trembling, spreading the good news of the gospel, as unto a dying and perverse generation. Where is the remnant of Jesus Christ? Where are those who will put aside their lives for the sake of the gospel? If we don't humble ourselves and pray, holding fast to the words of the Lord, then our promises are sure.
