I tell you a mystery today.Yahweh God, creator of the universe, made and everlasting covenant with the the people of Israel. Consider the following passage from Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 31:35-37:
35 Thus says the LORD,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
(The LORD of hosts is His name):
36 “ If those ordinances depart
From before Me, says the LORD,
Then the seed of Israel shall also cease
From being a nation before Me forever.”
37 Thus says the LORD:
“ If heaven above can be measured,
And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath,
I will also cast off all the seed of Israel
For all that they have done, says the LORD.
This covenant is an everlasting covenant, one that will be in place for as long as Yahweh God lives, forever. There has been another covenant made by God for Israel that was also foretold by Jeremiah in verses 31-34:
31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Isaiah 49:6 tells us that this new covenant is for ALL people, Jew and Gentile alike.
Indeed He says,
‘ It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant
To raise up the tribes of Jacob,
And to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles,
That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
We know that in Jesus all the nations of the world are blessed and now the new covenant made is not only for the Jewish people, but for all people, there is no distinction made at this present time. This we find in Colossians, chapter 3, verses 10-11:
10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
We must respond to this covenant to accept it's terms for the everlasting word to be bound within our hearts. There must be an acceptance that Jesus is the Messiah, and He came for you and me. We must recognize our need for a Savior and turn away from our wicked desires and accept His payment for us, He bought each of us in the Spirit, it is Our's for the asking. Consider these scriptures.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 3:23
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Second Corinthians 5:21 says, "He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him."
Romans 10:9-10
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
