Faith Comes Through Hearing

In Romans 10:17, there is an often memorized verse,"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." We often remember some of the verses without giving them the thought needed to change our way of living, to build within us the enlightenment that scripture can do, if we truly read and meditate upon it.
I have found a principle that was never really understood by me, until recent years. There is a part of many scriptures that contain prophetic truths within the story line or activities recorded. If we understand that the doctrines of the epistles tell us the underlying principle, that we may understand what other old testament books are showing us, underneath the original story line or prophecies given in the old accounts written. This is definitely the case with this principle listed above, since in many places it is recorded that without faith it is impossible to please God, we must build our faith by hearing His words. We cannot hear His words if we don't truly read, study and meditate upon it, there are numerous verses that come to mind backing up this statement, I hope you have just thought of several, many in the book of Psalms.
There is one such gem that the Lord has reminded me of this morning during my reading. The story of David's rise in 2 Samuel tells us the story of David's great desire to build God a house, since God had just built Him one, He was bothered by the temporary structure within which the newly reacquired ark of the covenant was placed. Everything was decided by David and Nathan gave the okay, since obviously everything in David's life was blessed by God and His desire seemed to be from a holy motive. The Lord had something else in mind though, and gave Nathan the prophecy to take to David, unknown to David, His dwelling would be far more glorious than the fine Cedar Temple David had in mind. It is within this prophecy that we see a far more glorious prophecy that went even beyond Solomon, to Christ himself.Let's look at the key scriptures to the establishment of David's seed, all from 2 Samuel chapter 7,"12When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever." The next verse discusses Solomon, but these verses could not be Solomon, because His throne and Kingdom ended, so it had to be Christ, who came through the seed of David, as the Lord Himself had said. David heard it and accepted it and established His faith. The next verse sealed the promise,"16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”’” The next verses reveal the change that took place within the heart of David, an establishment of a sure foundation of faith unwavering from that time forth,"25 “Now, O LORD God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said. 26 So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You. 27 For You, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.
28 “And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant."
David was told by hearing the word and believed and had His faith impregnated with a Godly knowing that produced a boldness, an steadfastness of assurance that no matter what, He was established by God. That is the type of faith we are to walk with beloved, a knowing of God, that through Jesus Christ, I have all I need to overcome and endure, knowing that it has been spoken and when I accept that, I will begin to have my mind enlightened to see with the eyes of the Father, and establish my faith to become an unwavering faith.
